Cop’s Home Firebombed

By Drew Weidman

‘Molotov Cocktail’

Hummelstown Police are investigating an incident in which a “Molotov cocktail” was reportedly thrown at the home of a police officer on the 100 block of Cameron Avenue.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 11:15 p.m. Thursday, July 6, for a reported “dwelling fire.”

When crews arrived at the scene, they discovered a broken window and burned siding on the rear of the home.

On Monday, July 10, Hummelstown Police said they already had a “person of interest” in the case and were in the process of obtaining search warrants.

Hummelstown Police Chief William Ryan said the fire has been ruled an “arson” by the Dauphin County District Attorney’s office fire investigator Dennis Woodring.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said the Molotov cocktail was the second of two acts of vandalism at the home. Marsico said a rock was also thrown at the house in a separate incident.

Marsico said he didn’t think the house was targeted because the homeowner was a police officer.

However, Ryan told The Sun that he didn’t feel it was a “random act” either.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Hummelstown Police at 566-2555.
