Charles J. McCarthy, 75, of Hummelstown and formerly a long-time resident of Delaware County, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, in Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.
Born in Chester, on 10, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles McCarthy.
Charles retired as an electrician having worked at Westinghouse and General Motors. He was a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School, Springfield. Charles served proudly with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved traveling with his wife, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara J. Garcia McCarthy; a daughter, Amy A. M. Rhodes wife of John P. of Hummelstown; two sons, Charles J. McCarthy husband of Kristin M. of Langhorne, and Daniel J. McCarthy husband of Kate M. of Kenton, DE; and seven grandchildren, Collin C. McCarthy, Mallory E. McCarthy, Andrew “Drew” Rhodes, Arminda “Minda” Rhodes, Daniel J. McCarthy, Tucker J. McCarthy and Max J. McCarthy; and a great grandson on the way.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. A time to visit the family will be held Saturday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.
