The Borough Council of the Borough of Hummelstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania will hold a public meeting on January 19, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the Borough Municipal Building, 261 Quarry Road Hummelstown, PA 17036, at which meeting the Borough Council will consider the enactment of a proposed ordinance amending and updating the Borough’s real estate and occupation tax rates, Chapter 24 (Taxation, Special), Part 4 (Real Estate and Occupation Tax). The title and summary of the proposed ordinance are as follows:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HUMMELSTOWN, CHAPTER 24 (TAXATION, SPECIAL), TO AMEND THE PROVISIONS IN PART 4 (REAL ESTATE AND OCCUPATION TAX); TO PROVIDE FOR THE REPEAL OF PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCE PROVISIONS; TO PROVIDE FOR THE SEVERABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

Section 1 Amends Part 4 (Real Estate and Occupation Tax) of Chapter 24 (Taxation, Special) of the Code of Ordinances of the Borough of Hummelstown, by increasing rate of income exempted from the imposition of such tax.

Section 2 is a severability section providing that if any provision of the proposed Ordinance is invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Section 3 repeals all prior ordinances or parts thereof that are inconsistent with the proposed Ordinance. Section 4 provides that the proposed Ordinance shall become effective in accordance with applicable law.

The full text of the proposed amendatory ordinance is on file for inspection and review without charge (or a copy may be obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof) at the Hummelstown Borough Municipal Building, 261 Quarry Road Hummelstown, PA 17036.
